Welcome to the website of the Embassy of Switzerland for Sri Lanka and the Maldives and thank you for your interest in our activities! Our core mandate is to promote and expand the bilateral relations between Switzerland on the one side and Sri Lanka and the Maldives on the other. We are a service provider for both, Swiss citizens and residents living in the two countries we cover.
Switzerland’s presence in Colombo dates back to 1916, when the Swiss Government opened an Honorary Consulate. In 1956, the representation was upgraded to a Legation with professional diplomatic staff.
As the Ambassador of Switzerland to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, it is my honor to build on this longstanding relationship and pursue Swiss efforts to strengthen political, economic and cultural ties. The Embassy is particularly focusing on trade and investment promotion, supporting reconciliation and human rights, strengthening the bilateral migration cooperation, and fostering cultural relations.
The Embassy’s Consular Team, together with the Swiss Honorary Consulate in Malé, provides services for Swiss citizens living in the Embassy’s Consular District and makes visa information available for residents living in the two countries the Embassy is competent for.
